An Eagle Scout's Tribute to Veterans

Hi, my name is Jason.

I created this website to honor the service of U.S. veterans by telling visitors about my Eagle Scout project and about the Library of Congress's Veterans History Project (VHP).

The VHP's mission is to catalog and make accessible to the public the recorded accounts of U.S. veterans' military service. The goal of my project was to add as many veterans' stories as I could to the VHP collection.

I hope you enjoy learning about my project and the VHP, and I also hope you visit the VHP and its website to listen to our veterans' stories.

This is my Great Uncle George, the inspiration for my project. He served in WWII and lost his right arm in the Battle of Hürtgen Forest in Germany at the age of 19. Coming home from the war, he had to rebuild his life.

I interviewed Uncle George in 2014 for the VHP, and his powerful interview showed me the importance of a project like the VHP.

Uncle George had a fascinating story to tell that he, like so many other veterans, had never told before. Through my project, I want the world to hear these stories.
